So, Hey. Have You Ever Blogged?

Welcome the wonderful world of blogging!

Some of you may already be familiar with blogging and may even have your own blog somewhere on the world wide web. Blogs are a great way to communicate and connect to the masses on topics of interest to you.

We will be using this tiny slice of the web as a place to connect to each other as learners, and to write about the events that are shaping the greater world around us. Some of your posts will be teacher directed, while others will be directed by your own personal interestes. Part of the beauty of blogs is that they provide a public place for you to share your thoughts and they also allow for your classmates to read and respond to what you have written. My hope is that the inherent public nature of your blog will inspire you to write meaningful, interesting posts that your classmates will be interested in reading and commenting on.

A few important points about blogs.

1.) Blogs are a PUBLIC forum. Anyone with an internet connection can, and will read your posts. You need to be careful to write in a manner that is not considered offensive. Since this blog will be part of your course work, it is understood that you will treat your blog posts with the same diligence and decorum that you would a piece that you would hand in to your teacher.

2.) Comments are also public. You are encouraged to comment to the posts that your classmates write. However, keep in mind that you should NEVER write a comment that could be perceived as hurtful. Always read your comments carefully BEFORE you hit send!

3.) Blogs allow for a variety of ways of communicating. You can post pictures, sound files and video. Please feel free to use these artistic methods as ways of enhancing the message in your posts.
